The origin of naming comes from the shape like Okina’s face

In Koetsu tea bowls, it is rare form that is “Kutsu(like shoe sole)” shape. There are several other bowls named “Okina”, and they seems that its naming comes from the Nou-men face of Okina. There is a face similar to the non-glaze like “Nonkou” tea bowl.

A Tiny Story

It is a bowl that made a disturbing form easily to drink tea. Which bowl face should be put in their mouth is lost. So as if we are tested by the master “Which faces woukd you choose for drink?”.
